Nitchen Inc. is a community based, not-for-profit (501-C3) organization comprised of Native American families from North, South and Central America. We help families with health, education, social and cultural enrichment. Nitchen was founded in 1993 by parents of American Indian youth.
Nitchen improves the lives of New York City Native children and youth by enabling them to grow into healthy and well adjusted students, family and community members; instilling pride in being American Indian; and fostering intercultural understanding between American Indians and non-natives. Nitchen, which means “our children” in Lenni-Lenape (New York City’s first peoples), is funded in part by AT&T; City University of New York; IBM; The Honorable Robert Jackson, New York City Councilman; the New York City Department of Mental Health and private donations. | ![]()
